What's Is Your Art Form?
RHIZOMES

A site-specific, multi-disciplinary art happening that brings several artistic projects from various art forms together to devise or adapt their work to a unique space as part of a choose-your-own art-adventure experience during the festival. In the Soil Arts Festival will work with chosen companies/ artists to develop work that will respond to various spaces throughout a venue in downtown St. Catharines. Performances, installations and interactive experiences are encouraged. RHIZOMES is a popular ITS program that provides unique and immersive experience.

IMPORTANT DETAILS:

  • Selected RHIZOMES artists will be required to attend a site visit and workshop in January 2018. At this site visit, we will determine what space each artist/group will be assigned. We encourage artists to be inspired by the space and to allow it to help shape the details of the installation or performance.
  • We encourage artists of all disciplines to apply for this event. Performances, interactive experiences and installations will be considered. Maximum time for each tour is 10 minutes.
  • The RHIZOMES program will run 4 times throughout the festival and will be 120mins each time.
  • RHIZOMES artists will be required to work within the parameters of the space provided and to consider how their audience will travel to and from their space.
  • There are many opportunities beyond RHIZOMES for originally, interactive and site-specific proposals. The programming committee will be looking for a variety of mediums to showcase at RHIOZOMES and will keep an open mind for opportunities outside of this program.
